Nellie Loftin (Byers) Riffe

Nellie Byers Loftin Riffe, 90, of Statesville, left this world on Thursday, May 11, 2023.

Mrs. Riffe was born in Iredell County, on December 31, 1932. She was the daughter of the late Julius and Julia “Annie” Byers. Nellie grew up in the loving Byers family of nine; seven boys and two girls. She attended Celeste Henkel School and was a hard worker at Troutman Industries and Iredell Memorial Hospital as a nutritionist for more than 25 years. Nellie was an unselfish person who opened her home to those in need.  She enjoyed cooking, and dearly loved having her family around for meals. Her home was always welcoming, clean and organized. Nellie was a strong lady who overcame many heartaches in her life, but she always found joy and happiness in the love she had for family, including her kitty, Precious.

Along with her parents, Nellie was preceded in death by her late first husband, Harold Loftin and her son, Scott Loftin.

Those left to cherish the life and legacy of Nellie Riffe include her husband, Cecil Riffe, her sons, Tommy (Brenda) Loftin, Mike (Linda) Loftin and Terry Loftin, each who maintain their place of residence near their childhood home. Also surviving are six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one great, great-grandchild.

A funeral service for Mrs. Riffe will be conducted 2:00 pm Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at Troutman Funeral Home, burial to follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens with Rev. Bill Mason officiating. The family will visit with friends one hour prior to the service, 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care at 243 N Lee Ave, Yadkinville, NC 27055.
