Melvin "MG" Garner Bowes

Melvin Garner “MG” Bowes, 78, of Statesville, passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2023, surrounded by his family after a lengthy illness.

MG was born on November 12, 1944, in Henderson, NC, and was the son of the late Silas Bowes and Christine Mosley Bowes. Before his illness, MG was an avid hunter and fishing and enjoyed trading guns. He dearly loved his family and spending time with them. MG and his wife were members of South River Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, MG was preceded in death by his grandson, Zachary Garner Bowes, sister, Barbara and brother, Donnie.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of fifty-seven years, Linda Meadows Bowes, son, Brian Keith Bowes (Michele), granddaughter, Beverly Elizabeth Bowes, brother, Ronnie and sisters, Jeanette and Patsy.

A celebration of life will be held at South River Baptist Church on Monday, April 17, 2023, at 1:00 pm with Dr. Chris Thompson officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm at the church. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Field of Faith at South River Baptist Church, 2659 S. Chipley Ford Rd, Statesville, NC 28625 or Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County at 2341 Simonton Rd, Statesville, NC 28625.
