Leroy George Stamets

LeRoy George Stamets, 84, of Statesville, passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at the Gordon Hospice House.

LeRoy was born September 11, 1939 in Milford, NJ and was the son of the late William and Beulah Fleming Stamets. He graduated from Frenchtown High School, Class of 1957 and married Andrea Sujet Stamets. He grew up as a dairy farmer, later served in the US Air Force, then worked with his father-in-law and brother-in-law at Diamond Point Knife & Tool. He was active in Boy Scouts, loved hunting, playing softball, bowling and coaching little league baseball.

In addition to his wife of 64 years, LeRoy is survived by a daughter, Lisa Stamets, a son, Derek Stamets (Deb), one brother, William Stamets, Jr. and two sisters, Flora S. Nielsen and JoAnn S. Kuhne.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, December 22, 2023 in the Troutman Funeral Home Chapel and burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery in Statesville.
