Janice Brown

Janice Diane Settlemyre Brown, 81, of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at Duke Health Lake Norman Hospital.

Janice was born on August 7, 1943, in Iredell County, to the late Buford Settlemyre and Hazel Wilson Settlemyre. She was a graduate of Mooresville High School and was employed by Burlington Industries for many years. She loved cooking Sunday dinner, reading and working in her flower bed.

In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Steve Brown, a daughter, Stephanie Edwards, and a sister, Billie Widener.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Tina Settlemyre; son, Richard S. Brown, Jr. (Karen); sister, Cathy Carlton; brothers, Robert Settlemyre and Tim Settlemyre; grandchildren, Josh Edwards, April Settlemyre, Jantzen Edwards, Grace Brown, and Faith Brown; great-grandson, Easton Lunsford.

A graveside service will be held at 4:00 pm on Saturday, May 17, at New Perth ARP Church Cemetery, with Rev. Tom Wiggins officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
