Gladys (Gibson) Sipes

Gladys Gibson Sipes, 90, of Statesville passed away on Monday, February 15, 2021 at her home.

She was born on August 31, 1930 in Iredell County and daughter to the late John and Belle Adams Gibson. She attended Statesville High and soon after married her now late husband, Foy E. “Sam” Sipes on April 8, 1950. They were both long time members of Bethel United Methodist Church. Mrs. Sipes loved giving to her church family and neighbors and doing anything she could for others. She was a member of the Jolly Elders at Bethel United Methodist Church and the Golden Harvesters at Beulah Baptist Church and loved enjoying home grown tomatoes.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Gibson and sister Ruth Little. She is survived by her daughter, Sue Hallman (Tim) of Statesville, two sons, Foy Lee Sipes (Sandy) of Catawba and Walter Sipes of Mt. Pleasant, two grandchildren, Jackie and Dustin Sipes, Two step grandchildren, Brad Chandler and Jodie LaFollette, two great grandchildren, Norah and Claire Sipes and one brother, Jerry Gibson (Betty) of Statesville.

Mrs. Sipes will lie in state at Troutman Funeral Home on Friday, February, 19, 2021 from 11:00-12:00 with a graveside funeral service at 2:00 pm at Bethel United Methodist Church with Rev. Ronald Setzer officiating. The family requests to please follow Covid-19 protocol.
