Dean Charles Hicks

Dean Charles Hicks, age 66, of Millersville Road, Taylorsville, NC, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 8, 2024, at his home. Born in Transylvania County, NC on August 19, 1958, he was the son of the late Albert and Mary Charles McFee Hicks. He was a graduate of Owen High School in Asheville. Dean was a retired upholsterer in the furniture industry. He enjoyed beekeeping, collecting coins, gardening, and talking with other people. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.

He is survived by his wife, Robin Nash Hicks of Taylorsville; two step-daughters, Angie Troutman (Matt) of Ocean Isle, NC and Amanda Sturgill (Joe) of Hiddenite, NC. Also surviving are one sister, Joan Clara Baity of Taylorsville; one brother, Scott Hicks of Hiddenite; and ten grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life service is being planned for the near future and will be announced prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Dean’s memory to any Hurricane Helene relief fund benefitting the people of western North Carolina.
