Clyde Reese Rimmer, 93, passed away at his home in Birch Bay Blaine, WA on Sunday, December 26, 2021.
Clyde was born July 11, 1928 in Gaston County and was the son of the late Glenn Rimmer and Alice Elrod and his beloved Mom, Evanell Nash Rimmer.
He served in the US Army four years and joined the Merchant Marines (Atlantic Ritchfield ARCO) where he retired in Seattle, WA after forty-three years of service.
In addition to his parents, Clyde was preceded in death by his bloved wife, Joyce Rimmer, brother, Elmer Rimmer and sisters; Clara Johnson, Norma Deal, Mary Beckham and Linda McDaniels.
Surviving are his three children; Kelly Lynn Workman (Steve), Mary Alice O’Mahoney and Robert Wood and two sisters; Patricia Brown and Loretta Deal. Also surviving are grandchildren; Crystal Rothbart (Steve), Jessica Bruno (Rick), Brittany Workman (Albert), Marissa Beach, Joseph Beach and Misa Beach (Jenny) and twelve great grandchildren.
Military honors will be observed by the local VFW. Pall bearers are Jeff Deal, Bearn Deal, Kelly Weatherman, Andy Jones, Aaron Jones, Adam Jones and Rick Bruno.
A visitation will be held Monday, January 10 at Troutman Funeral Home from 1:00pm to 2:00pm. Service will follow in the Chapel at 2:00pm with Charles Jones and WB Sharpe officiating. Burial will follow immediately after the service at Iredell Memorial Gardens with full military honors.
