Wilma Meredith Jolly

September 23, 1929 — March 14, 2018

September 23, 1929 - March 14, 2018 Wilma Leigh Meredith Jolly, 88, of Statesville, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at Gordon Hospice House. She was born on September 23, 1929 in North Carolina and spent her early years in Virginia and Tennessee. Wilma was the daughter of the late Annie Bell Head Meredith and step-daughter of Ed Meredith. She was formerly married to Philip Woodrow Jolly, who also pre-cedes her. Wilma was a devoted Christian, who read the bible front to back many times in her life. She grew up singing and playing guitar in church and her faith was very important to her. She was known for having a "green thumb" and loved gardening her flowers. She will always be remembered for being a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She cherished spending time with her family, including her special cat companion, Opie. Wilma is survived by her five daughters, Carol (Buddy) Lowman, Kaye (Jerry) Massey, Barbara (Larry) Douthit, Robin (Randall) Swicegood, and Cindy (Chris) Stikeleather; grandchildren, Phillip Douthit and Leslie Hayes; great-grandchildren, Landon and Logan, and a very special first cousin who was like a sister to her, Ruby Leonard. A committal service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 16, 2018 at Iredell Memorial Gardens in the Mausoleum with Rev. Amy Spivey officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Wilma’s memory may be made to Gordon Hospice House, 2341 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625 or to Monticello United Methodist Church Debt Reduction, 308 Island Ford Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
