Wilma "Billie" Orren Jenkins

Wilma "Billie" Orren Jenkins, 81, of Lake Norman, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville. She was born in Iredell County on November 23, 1930 to the late James Boyd and Ethel Putnam Orren. She grew up in the East Monbo community of Lake Norman and was a loving and caring wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a life long member of Bethel Baptist Church. Wilma, known more as "Billie" by her many friends and family during her 81 years, is survived by her husband, Billy Eugene Jenkins; her son, Steven Bryan Jenkins of Troutman and his wife, Lynn; two brothers, Ted (Betty) Orren of Statesville and Larry (Celia) Putnam of Mooresville; two granddaughters, Brenae Nicole (Austin) Jenkins Waugh and Lauren Michele Jenkins; and one great-granddaughter, Raleigh Cate Waugh. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Polly, and an infant brother. A memorial service will be held at Bethel Baptist Church at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 26, 2012 with the Rev. Brian Langley officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the service. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
