William "Bill" Johnson Baxter

William “Bill” Johnson Baxter, 80, of Statesville, passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2023, at Iredell Memorial Hospital.

Bill was born on June 3, 1943, in Statesville, son of the late Fred Howard Baxter and Louise Towell Baxter. He graduated from Kernersville High School and was a member at Cherry Street Methodist Church. He married his wife, Almedia Sloan Baxter, on January 14, 1968. Bill proudly served in the US Marines and Navy. He attended Bethany Presbyterian Church, Statesville. Bill enjoyed reading and exercising in his free time.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his sisters, Toni Jo B. Mullany and Gerald Sue B. Sloan.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of fifty-five years, Almedia, son, John Michael Baxter, special son, Nicholas Tomlin and grandsons, Dustin Kyle Baxter and Joseph Ryan Baxter (Courtney).

A graveside service will be held at Salisbury National Cemetery with full military honors on Thursday, June 22 at 2:00 pm.
