Oct. 10, 1930 - Sept. 21, 2014
William "Bill" Taylor, 83, of Troutman went to be with his Lord on Sunday, September 21, 2014.
He was born in Charlotte on October 10, 1930 to the late Jackson Cary and Bessie Mae Taylor.
Surviving is his loving wife of 46 years, Norma Taylor, of the home.
Bill was a loving husband, father and grandfather. His only grand-daughter, Jessica, shared a special bond with her grandparents. The vacations from the mountains to the shoreline of the Bahamas will always be the fondest of times for her.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by his daughter, Linda Taylor Allman (Jeff Kingsbury) of Gastonia; granddaughter, Jessica Leigh Agan (Mark) of Winston Salem; sister, Jean Stewart of Wake Forest; a very special sister-in-law, Mattie Crawford; and numerous nieces and nephews.
After graduation from the Mecklenburg school system, Bill entered the service and was a veteran of the Korean War. On March 9, 1968, he married Norma Cranford. He was a longtime member of the American Legion for 38 years and was a dedicated member of Fallstown Baptist Church who loved his church family.
He retired from Suburban Propane and began volunteer work by delivering meals in the Troutman area. His smile was always welcoming to the folks that he visited.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at Troutman Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at Fallstown Baptist Church with the Rev. David Troutman officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service at Iredell Memorial Gardens.
