William Frank Church

William Frank Church, 97, of Statesville passed away Friday October 15, 2021 at Rosewood Assisted Living.

Frank was born September 16, 1924 in Iredell County and was the son of the late William Coite Church and Vagie Ellen Martin Church. He attended Iredell County Schools and on June 26, 1948, he married the late Martha Sue Johnson Church who passed away June 21, 2015. He was a farmer, previously worked for G.L. Wilson Building Company and later retired from Iredell County School System. He was a member of Mt. Sinai Evangelical Methodist Church. He loved baseball, especially the Atlanta Braves, gardening, cutting firewood, cracking pecans and his cows.

He is survived by five sons, Ed Church (Maria) of Indian Trail, Mac Church (Debbie) of Statesville, Donald Church (Taryn) of Texas, Forest Church (Cindy) and Ralph Church (Leslie) both of Statesville; one daughter, Doris E. Church of Statesville; six grandchildren, Allison Lee Cazire, Elizabeth Ann Church, Karen Mayhew, Amanda Street, Nicholas Church and Garrett Church; eight great grandchildren; one brother, Roy Church; two sisters, Antha Reid, Louann Jones and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.

In addition to his wife and parents, Frank was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.

Graveside funeral services will be held 12:00pm Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at Mt. Sinai Evangelical Methodist Church, 306 Fairmount Rd., Statesville, NC 28625 with Rev. Dave Kimball and Rev. William Wease officiating. Mr. Church will lie in state from 11:00-12:00pm in the church before the graveside service.
