William "Bill" Joseph Moore

Feb 18, 1941 — Oct 29, 2026

William Joseph Moore, lovingly known as “Poppy” and “Bill” and “Uncle Billy” passed away on October 29, 2026, surrounded by the love and memories of those who will forever cherish him. Born on February 18, 1941, in Mill Island, New York, Bill lived a life defined by hard work, generosity, compassion, and an unwavering love for his family.

Bill was a hardworking man with a soft heart. He was the kind of person who would give the shirt off his back to someone in need. He had a particularly special place in his heart for children, whether they were his own family or the many others that called his house a home throughout their lives. His kindness knew no boundaries, and his willingness to help others was simply part of who he was.

When he wasn’t spending time with the people he loved, Bill could often be found doing what made him happiest: deep-sea fishing, hunting, or simply being near any body of water. The outdoors brought him peace, and those who shared these moments with him will forever treasure the memories.

Above all, Bill loved his family. Being a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather was one of his greatest joys. To his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, he was affectionately known as Poppy, a title that represented so much more than a name. It represented love, warmth, wisdom, and a lifetime of memories.

Bill was predeceased by his beloved wife, Carol Ann Moore; his parents, Wilbur and Elizabeth Moore; Brother John Moore Sr. And sister Patricia McFeely and husband James McFeely and his grandson, Joseph Green IV.

He leaves behind his loving children: Joan Houston and her husband Timothy; William J. Moore Jr. and his wife Mary; Doreen Melton and her husband Russ; Kathy Green and her husband Joe; and Kristen Eagleston and her husband Paul. He also leaves behind 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, all of whom will carry his love and memory in their hearts.

Though our hearts are broken by his passing, we find comfort in knowing that the love he gave, the lives he touched, and the memories he created will live on through generations.

A hardworking man, a gentle soul, a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. To many, he was Bill. To those closest to him, he was Poppy. And to his family, he was simply irreplaceable.

He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
