Virginia Foard Scott

1962 — 2019

Troutman

Virginia Foard Scott, 57, of Troutman, NC, was surrounded by her family when she passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2019, following a brief and courageous battle with cancer.

Ginny was born September 29, 1962, in Statesville, NC, and was the daughter of Joan Reich Scott and the late George Addison Scott, Sr.  She was a graduate of Statesville High School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Ginny made her career in the advertising industry, working for a number of firms throughout the southeast before an in-house position at Circuit City took her to Richmond, Virginia, where she lived happily for over 28 years.  In addition to her professional pursuits, Ginny was a devoted animal lover, generously and tirelessly committed to numerous animal rescue organizations.

Ginny loved her family, her dogs, her bridge groups, and her yoga friends.  She loved to travel, especially treasuring frequent journeys with her mother.  Ginny thought of her nieces and nephews as her own children.  She was a collector of eclectic art, a voracious reader, loved live music, and was always up for a competitive card game.  She was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church in Statesville, NC.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by one sister, Amy Scott Spears (Kent) of Statesville, NC; two brothers, George Scott (Elizabeth) of Atlanta and John Scott (Christen) of Charlotte; and seven nieces and nephews: Will and Lily Spears (Statesville, NC); Vaden, Mallory, and Addison Scott (Atlanta); and Jack and Foard Scott (Charlotte).

A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 24, 2019, at First Presbyterian Church in Statesville, NC, with Rev. Wes Pitts officiating.  Following the service, the family will visit with friends in the church fellowship hall.  The family will also receive friends this Wednesday evening, between 5:00-7:00 p.m., at the home of Joan Scott.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Iredell County, the SPCA, or to the charity of your choice.  Online condolences may be made to the family at www.troutmanfuneralhome.com .
