Vercie Lanning

Vercie Lee Anderson Prevette Lanning, 91, of Statesville, NC, finished her earthly race on Sunday, October 27 at Gordon Hospice House with her loving family by her side.

She was born in Iredell County on August 21, 1933, to the late Clyde Anderson and Eva Harris Anderson. She was married to the late Earl Prevette and Walter Lanning.

Vercie retired from Celanese, where she worked as a machine operator for many years. She was a member of New Salem Methodist Church. She loved traveling with her late husband in the RV and met many people who became family. She loved music, dancing, gardening and the Atlanta Braves and cooking for others.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Zelda, and brother, William Clyde Anderson.

Those left to cherish her memory are brother, Herman Anderson (Betty); sisters, Christine Vite (Jerry), Lessie Prevette. Mildred Miller, Wilma Laws, and Margie Abernathy, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 30 at 2:00 pm at Troutman Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Donald Fultz officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm. Burial will follow in the Lewis Baptist Church Cemetery, 2190 Old Salisbury Rd, North Wilkesboro, NC.
