Troy "T.C." Clifton Homesley, Jr.

Dec 22, 1934 — Oct 20, 2026

Statesville

Troy "T.C." Clifton Homesley Jr., 91, of Statesville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at his residence.

T.C. was born on December 22, 1934, in Cherryville, North Carolina, to the late Troy Clifton Homesley and Essie Taylor Homesley. He obtained both his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of North Carolina, finishing law school in 1957. Following law school, T.C. served in the Army JAG Corps from 1958 until 1962, when he was honorably discharged as a Captain. T.C. practiced law in Iredell County his entire career. He was married to Jacqueline Braverman Homesley, who survives, and was a member of Broad Street United Methodist Church.

In addition to his wife, Jacquie, T.C. is survived by his son, Clifton Walker Homesley (Fariba) and his daughter, Blair Homesley Hawley (Jason) as well as his stepchildren Jennifer Brinkley (Bill) and Cissi McPherson (Harry). He was preceded in death by his stepson, Josh Schneider. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Troy Homesley (Sonya), Persia Hadad (Ray), Cyrus Homesley, Darius Homesley (Jennie), Kenan Hawley, Landon Hawley and three great-grandchildren as well as five step-grandchildren, Jack Brinkley, Matthew McPherson (Ellen), Molly Weathers (John), Lilla Ford (Jon), Sam Schneider and four step-great-grandchildren all of whom he considered his own. He is also survived by his nephews and their significant others.

T.C. was preceded in death by his beloved brother and sister, Howard Homesley and Shirley Smith. Howard Homesley is survived by his widow, Jane Homesley. Shirley Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Hoyle Smith.

T.C. opened a law office in Mooresville in 1962 for the Collier & Harris firm and eventually served as a partner in law firms in Mooresville and Statesville. He served the citizens of Iredell County with a glad heart, many times answering legal questions without any concern about compensation.

T.C. earned many awards during his life both within and outside of his work. He received the Jaycees' Distinguished Service Award and successfully led the effort to pass a referendum for the first ABC store in Iredell County in Mooresville, which raised millions of dollars in taxes over the years for the school system. He was Chairman of the South Iredell Chapter of the American Red Cross for over twenty years. He served as county and district bar president and received a lifetime alumni award from his alma matter, the University of North Carolina School of Law. T.C. was inducted into the legal practice hall of fame of the North Carolina Bar Association. He served on the Board of Trustees for Broad Street United Methodist Church.

T.C.'s love for the University of North Carolina extended far beyond his years as a student. He was a devoted Tar Heel through and through, with a passion for Carolina athletics that spanned more than seven decades. Over the years, he attended hundreds of UNC sporting events, traveling near and far to cheer on his beloved Tar Heels, including numerous NCAA Final Fours and National Championship games. Win or lose, his loyalty and enthusiasm never wavered. Few things brought T.C. greater joy than cheering on Carolina, and his love for the Tar Heels was a defining part of his life.

Most of all, T.C. cared about helping people, many of whom were not as fortunate as he was and he always had a place in his heart for those who were struggling in life. He enjoyed hanging out with his friends at the “Confusion Club” every Friday. He enjoyed working out and socializing at the YMCA. He will be missed at lunch on Mondays at Sub Express! He died having almost 39 years of uninterrupted sobriety.

The family sends special thanks to Terri “Sunshine” Troutman and her compassionate group of caregivers.
