Tony Ray Miller

Tony Ray Miller, 79, of Statesville, NC, passed away peacefully on August 24 ^th , 2022, at Iredell Memorial Hospital with his wife and daughter by his side and listening to hits by his favorite musician, Elvis Presley.

Tony was born on March 15, 1943, in Iredell County where he resided until his death. Tony proudly served in the U.S. Army in the 82 ^nd Airborne division. He was also a mason and a Shriner. Tony loved the game of golf and could often be found near a golf course either playing or volunteering, the latter of which he did for several years at the annual PGA Tour tournament held at Quail Hollow Country Club in Charlotte, NC.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents, John Davidson and Bessie Bunton Miller, daughter, Catherine Elizabeth Miller, three sisters, Thelma Brown, Juanita Sloan, and Pauline Gallyon, five brothers, Jack, Bill, Glenn, Johnny and Charles Miller.

He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Deborah Carper Miller, daughter Lisa Kay Hillgen (Jason), granddaughter, Isabella “Bella” Grace Hillgen, brother Dean Miller (Gerald Sue), sister-in-law, Mildred Dyson Miller (wife of the late Charles Miller), as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family will hold a private service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Purple Heart Homes.
