Thomas "Tommy" Samuel Williard, Iii

Thomas “Tommy” Samuel Williard, III, 77, of Statesville, passed away on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at his home.

Tommy was born on December 17, 1946, in Iredell County, son of Doris Goforth and the late Thomas Samuel Williard, Jr.

In addition to his mother and sister, Tandra Williard Thompson, Tommy is survived by his wife of 46 years, Robin Sherrill Williard; three children, Tamara Williard Payne, Robert Mychael Thomas (Melissa), and Matt Williard. Tommy and Robin have three grandchildren, Madison Thomas Beasley (Blake), Logan Thomas, and Luke Payne. He also served his country in the United States Army.

Tommy was always the entrepreneur from a very young age. As a child he had a paper route in the Elmwood Community so he could make enough money to buy a horse. As he grew older he always wanted to gather knowledge of how things worked and how to make them better. He and his father owned an auto repair shop, where they helped numerous people in the Statesville area with cars, small engines, and countless other things. His main occupation was electronics engineering where he owned his own business, Williard Electronic Company (WECO Inc) from April 1989 through June 2019. His expertise in the field was unmatched and he offered services to many public safety entities across the nation.

After his retirement he continued to learn in many different avenues outside of electronics and enjoyed many different types of crafting projects. He thoroughly enjoyed learning how to do something, by trial and error, and eventually having something that he could give to someone to brighten their day as a homemade project.

Tommy loved people. Sometimes words are said with no action behind them. As a man of few emotional words, he showed you exactly how he felt by his actions. Giving anything he could give, and no expectation of anything in return, he would move heaven and earth for his family. If you needed him for anything he would be there, no questions asked. As was said at one time “my daddy Tom can fix anything!”

A celebration of Life gathering will be held Saturday, March 1, 2025, from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm at the Statesville Civic Center.
