Ted Allen Riddle

Ted Allen Riddle, Sr., 86, of Statesville, passed away peacefully Saturday, August 8, 2026 after an extended illness.

Ted was born December 13, 1939, in Iredell County to the late Thomas Franklin Riddle and Vivian Barkley Riddle.

In addition to his parents, Ted was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara R. Hutchens; three brothers, Alvin Riddle, Lee Riddle and Milton Riddle; and a sister, Nancy R. Tucker.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 66 years, Shirley Ann Benfield Riddle; daughter, Debbie R. Culler; son, Ted “Allen” Riddle, Jr. (Susan); daughter, Tammy R. Loudermilt (Chris); son-in-law, Dennis Hutchens; grandchildren, Kristi Culler, Lindsay Toothaker (Chris), Logan Mills (Seth), Madison Sell (Cole), Makenzie Payne (John), and Tyler Loudermilt; great-grandchildren, Garrett Henderson, Raylan Henderson, Paige Sell, Rhett Sell, Cannon Payne and Carter Toothaker.

Ted is further survived by a sister, Edna R. Souther, and a brother, Donald “Hoppy” Riddle.

A graveside funeral service will be held at a later date, at Mt. Herman Lutheran Church Cemetery in Statesville, NC, with Pastor William Ketchie officiating.
