Sylvia Louise Blankenship Hardy, 94, of Troutman, went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 12, 2018.
She was born on April 10, 1923 in Yadkin County to the late John and Pearl Blankenship.
Sylvia was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Among many things, she loved crocheting, quilting, gardening and cooking, but most of all she loved her family and always put family first.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Grover Eugene Hardy, Sr.; son, Eugene Hardy; one sister, and four brothers.
Left to cherish her memory are sons, Brent (Pat) Hardy of Statesville and Michael (Mary) Hardy of Kannapolis; daughters, Wanda H. Blackwelder of McLeansville NC, and Janice (Dave) H. Brotherton of Bedford, VA; fourteen grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Fern Hill Baptist Church on Monday, January 15, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Jesse L. Stroud and Rev. Conley Matlock officiating. Interment will immediately follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Sylvia’s memory may be made to Fern Hill Baptist Church, 872 Fern Hill Road, Mooresville, NC 28177 or to Gordon Hospice House, 2341 Simonton Rd, Statesville, NC 28625.
The family wishes to give a special thanks to Sylvia’s caretakers at The Gardens of Statesville and to Hospice of Iredell County for the loving care they gave their mother during her illness.
