Susan Jane Weisner Godfrey

Susan Jane Weisner Godfrey passed away at 11:00 pm Wednesday, July 29th at Novant Medical Center after a 2-year battle with cancer. Born in Union Grove, North Carolina on September 2nd, 1948, she was the daughter of Benjamin Erastus Weisner and Hazel Sprinkle Weisner. Susan graduated from Union Grove High School in 1966 and went on to earn a bachelor's degree in education from Appalachian State University as well as a Master's Degree from UNC Charlotte. Susan was a dedicated Chemistry teacher at East Lincoln High school for 35 years, and after retirement, continued inspiring future educators as an advisor to the UNC Charlotte Student Teachers' program. Outside of the classroom, Susan was a passionate member of her church community and choir. Susan is survived by her husband Randy, her sons Lee and Jay (Amanda), and her grandsons, Lonnie and Austin. She is also survived by her brothers, Tony, Sidney, Reggie (Vanessa), and Brent (Elizabeth) as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at 3:00pm, Sunday, August 2nd at Trinity Baptist Church in Mooresville, NC, with a funeral service to follow at 4:00pm.
