Stephen "Steve" Edward Johnson

Stephen “Steve” Edward Johnson, 64, of Statesville, passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at the S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House.

Steve was born on January 13, 1959, in Iredell County, son of Anne Carlton Johnson and the late John L. Johnson. Steve was a 1977 graduate of Statesville High School and 1981 graduate of NC State University. He previously served as a deacon at First ARP Church and retired from the Iredell County Tax Office. Steve had many hobbies and skills, a few include juggling, sailing, yard work (especially cutting his grass), spending time on Lake Norman and at North Myrtle Beach. He was also an avid UNC and Panthers fan and was known to enjoy his Cheerwine. Steve was an animal lover and had a special place in his heart for his labrador retrievers, Kenzie and Willow.

In addition to his mother, Steve is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Julia Cashion Johnson, brother, Robert Johnson (Karen) and his nephew, Sam Johnson.

A memorial service will be held 10:00 am on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at First ARP Church in Statesville with Rev. Chuck Evans officiating. The family will speak with friends following the service. A private burial will follow the service at Oakwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First ARP Church in Statesville.
