Shirley Mayberry

February 15, 1937 - December 21, 2017 Shirley Marie Elder Mayberry, 80, of Statesville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 21, 2017. She was born February 15, 1937 in Iredell County and was the daughter of the late James Elder and Annie Wilson Elder. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Faye Farmer. Left to cherish her memory is her beloved husband of sixty years, Lonnie Obdiah Mayberry; son, Jim Mayberry; daughter, Lisa Mayberry; sister, Dorothy Gatton, brothers, Gene (Sandy) Elder and James (Mona) Elder; grandchildren, James Mayberry and Ashley Rivera and three great-grandchildren, Jade Allen, Ali Rivera, and Dylan Rivera. She will be missed by all. Shirley loved attending Western Avenue Baptist Church, where she was a member for most of her life until she was unable to go due to her health. She also enjoyed playing solitaire and crossword puzzles. A graveside service will be held at St. Martin’s Cemetery on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Brian Burgess officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625. Troutman Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for Shirley Mayberry.
