Shirley Madden Hobbs, 89, of Statesville, passed away, Thursday, August 8, 2019 at Iredell Memorial Hospital.
Shirley was born March 9, 1930 in Iredell County and was the daughter of the late Oscar Lee Madden and Myrtle Allen Madden. She was a graduate of Statesville High School and was married to the late Lester Hobbs, who passed away November 6, 2006. She was a member of Christ Boulevard United Methodist Church and was a retired secretary from FCX, Inc. in Statesville. Shirley loved the mountains, her family, her friends, shopping and her little dog, Dexter.
She is survived by five nieces, Carla Johnson (David) of Statesville, JoAnn Davidson of Statesville, Carolyn Goodman (Jake) of Mooresville, Gail Drury (Terry) of Salisbury, Rita Hobbs of Statesville; two nephews, Larry Hobbs (Valerie), Raymond Madden (Faye); twelve great nieces and nephews, Todd Goodman, Lisa G. Glenn, Jennifer Hobbs, Michael Hobbs, Randy Davidson, Penny Davidson, Brent Goodman, Stacy Burrell, Katie Hiatt, Stephen Hobbs, Chris Hobbs, Arianna England; two grandsons, Michael and Brian Hobbs of Mooresville and other nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Shirley was preceded in death by one brother, Raymond Madden and one sister, Margie M. Poteat.
Graveside funeral services will be held 11:00 am Monday, August 12, 2019 at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will speak with friends following the service. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.troutmanfuneralhome.com
