Sarah "Juanita" (Mock) Harris

Sarah Juanita Mock Harris, 98, of Statesville, passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at the Gordon Hospice House.

Juanita was born on March 12, 1926, in Alexander County, to the late Roy Lee Mock and Ruthie Moose Mock. She was a member of Marvin United Methodist Church and was a devoted Sunday school teacher as well as having many other positions in the church. She was a graduate of Davis Hospital School of Nursing and began her career in obstetrics at Davis Hospital. Juanita retired from JC Penney Distribution as an occupational nurse and spent much of her free time as a hospice volunteer in the community as well as at the Gordon Hospice House. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, Juanita was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Blakely Harris and sisters, Isabelle Herring, Rose Waugh, Delores Hood and Mary Houser.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Joy Harris Taylor (Jimmy), Pamela Harris Wooten (Rick), her grandchildren, Justin Taylor (fiancé, Kim Wall), Benjamin Wooten (Holly), Joshua Wooten (Angela), Adam Wooten (Virginia) and her great grandchildren, Alli Wooten, Averi Wooten, Andrew Wooten, Emma Wooten, Lucas Wooten, Katy Wooten and bonus great granddaughters, Olivia and Lani Wall. Also surviving is her sister, Willie Daniels.

Visitation will be held Monday, March 18, from 2:00 to 3:00 pm at Marvin United Methodist Church. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm with Rev. Jerry Rogers, Rev. Jeff Carson and Rev. Ron Setzer officiating. Burial will take place in the church cemetery follow the services.
