It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of Sandra “Sandy” Mayberry Waugh on August 13, 2026, at Gordon Hospice House.
Sandy was born October 14, 1951, in Iredell County to the late Junior Arthur Mayberry and Charlotte Hudspeth Mayberry. She graduated from South Iredell High School in 1969 and then obtained a degree in accounting. She retired from Engineered Centered Components, in Troutman, NC in 2012 where she worked as a payroll clerk.
First and foremost, Sandy loved her Lord and Savior and was a witness to Him up until her death. She was a faithful member of Beulah Baptist Church.
She loved spending time outside, planting and watching her flowers grow and bloom. She very much loved sitting on the front porch, watching the hummingbirds. A lot of her time was spent during the summer, helping her husband, Sammy, can many vegetables from the large garden they planted and shared with many others. She enjoyed learning to paint barn quilts and working with various other crafts, some of which she sold.
Sandy was a cat lover. She raised many through the years, and at the time of her death still had three. Her biggest fan, though, was Stanley, the very special dog that never wanted to leave her side during her illness.
Sandy is survived by her husband of 30 years, Sammy Waugh; a stepson, Jason Waugh (Krista); and granddaughters, Kalli and Ivey Waugh. She is also survived by a sister, Brenda McAllister (Melvin) of Kannapolis; and a brother, Wayne Mayberry (Kim) of Union Grove; as well as several Nieces and a nephew.
A special thank-you to the nursing staff and physical therapy staff at Maple Leaf Health Care and also the nursing staff at Hospice for her care.
No services are planned at this time.
Troutman Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family.
