Samuel Albert Morrison, 91, of Statesville passed away on Monday, January 12, 2026, at his home.
Albert was born February 19, 1934, in Iredell County, to the late O.B. Morrison and Carrie Hartness Morrison Brawley. He attended Scotts High School and served in the US Army after the Korean War. He was a TV repairman and later worked for Roederstein Electronics. He was a self-taught handyman and could fix or build anything. He loved to play dominoes, fish, watch sports and play practical jokes on anyone he met.
In addition to his parents, Albert was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Rebecca Morrison; three brothers, Gale Morrison, Norman Morrison and Barry Morrison; and a sister, Elaine Campbell.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 72 years, Ruby Bell Morrison; daughter, Robin Ireland; sons, Samuel “Sam” Albert Morrison Jr. (Sandy) and Andrew “Andy” Morrison; three grandchildren, Kelsey Tart (Edward), Kasey Ireland and Tyler Morrison (Morgan); 3 great grandchildren, Levi and Maddox Morrison and Lucas Tart, and one on the way; step grandchildren, Edwina and Matt Sanner; step great grandchild, Breanna Sanner; brothers, Wayne Morrison and Joe Morrison (Karen); sisters, Marlene Morrison and Imogene Stroud; and special caregiver, Dee Pittman.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, January 16 at Western Avenue Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Spry officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery with full military honors. The family will visit with friends prior to the service from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm.
