Sam Henline Sr

January 12, 1937 - January 16, 2018 George Samuel "Sam" Henline Sr., 81, of Troutman, heard the welcome words, "well done my good and faithful servant, enter into the kingdom of Heaven" and is now with his Lord. Sam was born on January 12, 1937 to Fred Theodore Henline and Eulalia Gosnell Henline of McDowell County, NC. He was a graduate of Glen Alpine High School and upon graduation he loyally served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was retired from Duke Power Company. In addition to his parents, Mr. Henline is preceded in death by brothers, J.C. "Charlie" Henline and Jesse Glen Henline, and sister, Christine Henline Powell. Mr. Henline is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Betty Branton Henline; son, George Samuel Henline Jr. (Beth) of Faith, NC; daughter, Amy H. Lowry (Scott) of Statesville, and three cherished grandchildren, Sara Lowry of Huntersville, Josh Lowry (Taylor) of Statesville, and John Lowry of Statesville. He is also survived by his sister, Betty H. Ray (Max) of Morganton, NC, and sister-in-laws Louise Henline and Dottie Henline. Sam was a member of Western Avenue Baptist Church. He was also a life member of Mystic Tie Masonic Lodge in Marion, NC as well as a member of the Scottish Rite and Shriners. A memorial and celebration of life service will be held at Western Avenue Baptist Church in Statesville on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Jeff Spry officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. A private graveside service will be conducted with Masonic Rites by Campbell Masonic Lodge at Oakwood Cemetery.
