Russell Ernest Isenhour, 71, of Statesville, passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at Baptist Hospital.
He was born August 27, 1944 in Iredell County to the late E. H. and Melzie Ireland Isenhour.
He was married to the former Jean Rankin for 47 years and worked in maintenance at Rental Uniform for 40 years before his retirement.
Russell was a hardworking man who cherished his family and friends. He was always ready and willing to help others. For friends, neighbors and family, he was always there.
He loved racing and built and raced midget Honda powered cars for several years. He and his brother, Joe, won several championships at Hickory Motor Speedway. He also loved flying and would fly his Ercoupe whenever he could. He was always working on something in his shop and could fix anything from four wheelers to bulldozers.
In addition to his wife, Jean, he is survived by his son, Bryan "B. I." (Kristin) Isenhour; daughter, Jennifer (Chris) Crouch; sisters, Marlene Mills and Gail Moose; brothers, Kenny Isenhour and Joe Compton; grandchildren, John Cook, Brittany Isenhour and Emelee and Charlie Crouch; and great-grandchild, Brantley Sipes, all of Statesville.
The family will receive friends from 6 - 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 13th in the chapel of Troutman Funeral Home. A private burial will be held at a later date.
