Roy Randolph Moore

Mr. Roy Moore, affectionately known as Randolph, departed this life peacefully at the age of 81 at his residence on June 18, 2025. Roy is the son of the late Reverend C. M. Moore and Mary Eliza Banks Moore. He was born in Iredell County on February 3, 1944.

Randolph was an avid gardener, farmer, and truck driver. In his younger days he enjoyed playing baseball and pitching horseshoes.

He attended Chestnut Grove Elementary and Unity High School. He worked at Southern Screw, Jack Wooten, Carolina Mirror, Carolina Freight, Anchor Motor Company, and Lease Way. Prior to retirement, he was a self-employed truck driver for R and R Trucking.

He was a member of St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Nicholas Moore; seven brothers, Clarence, Clemmons, John Raymond, Lonnie, James Monroe Sr., J. B., and Charlie; and two sisters, Alberta Glenn and Mary Ethel Brown.

He was twice married, first to Fronia Holmes Moore who preceded him in death and his second to JoAnn Norman Moore who survives.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted wife JoAnn Norman of the home; four sons, Roy (Sherri) Moore Jr. of Statesville, NC, William Curtis (Marie) Moore of Waldorf, MD, Reginald Keith Moore of Statesville, NC and Patrick (Pam) Moore of Lexington, NC; fifteen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and one great, great grandchild. He is also survived by two brothers, Daniel Moore of Harmony and Robert (Genell) Moore of Charlotte, NC; four sisters, Mamie Feaster of Jamaica, NY, Mable Hall of San Antonio, TX, Margaret Reid of Statesville, NC and Rosa (Leroy) Williams of Rock Hill, SC; one sister-in-law, Geraldine Moore of Harmony, NC; two special grandchildren, Derrick Norman and Michael Allison, both of Statesville, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 23, 2025, at 2:00 pm at St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church. He will lie in state at the church from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm. Reverends Vince Linney, Jerry Moore Sr, James Shade, and Sterling Howard will officiate. Burial will follow in the Macedonia Baptist Church cemetery in Taylorsville, NC.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Randolph’s name to St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church 132 Munday Rd Statesville, NC 28677.
