Roy Thomas Harwell

Roy Thomas Harwell, Sr, 79, of Statesville, passed away, Friday, June 7, 2019 at his home.

Tom was born December 27, 1939 in Iredell County and was the son of the late Roy B Harwell and Lena Hefner Harwell. He was a 1958 graduate of Statesville High School, served in the US Army and worked for Rental Uniform for 42 years until he retired in 2007. He is married to Lucille Milstead Harwell, who survives of the home and was a member of Forest Park Presbyterian Church.

In addition to his wife, Tom is survived by a son, Roy Thomas Harwell, Jr. (Jennifer) of Raleigh; two grandchildren, Walt Harwell, Stephanie Harwell; one brother, Bobby Harwell (Judy Hinson) of Statesville; one sister, Sherry Harwell Lackey (Steve) of Statesville; three sister-in-law, Mary Ann Milstead of Statesville, Faye Medlin (Dan) of Statesville, Joyce Holden (Kevin) of Summerville, SC; one brother-in-law, Clarence Milstead (Lisa) of Statesville; five nieces, five nephews and a number of great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Howard Milstead.

Memorial services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, June 15, 2019 at Forest Park Presbyterian Church with Rev. Scott Jeffreys officiating. The family will visit with friends from 10:00-10:45 am prior to the service. Burial will be held at a later date.
