Roy Steven Dishmon, Sr.

Roy Steven “Steve” Dishmon Sr., age 76, of Statesville, passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2025. Born May 23, 1949, in Iredell County, he was the son of the late Roy Conley “Bill” Dishmon and the late Myra Morrow Miller. A graduate of South Iredell High School, he was the husband of Teresa Ann Souther Dishmon.

Steve was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served his country for 21 years, and having fought in the Vietnam conflict before retiring. Later, he served as a detention officer for the Alexander Country Juvenile Detention facility. He was a member of Monticello Baptist Church in Statesville.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Teresa Dishmon; one daughter, Michelle Gibson; one son, Roy Steven Dishmon Jr.; along with grandson, Corey Steven (Desiree) Dishmon; granddaughter, Lauren Nicole Dishmon; granddaughter, Kayla Marie (Garrett) Dishmon Bowman; grandson, Sean Conley Dishmon; and great granddaughter, Maicee Lucille Bowman. Also surviving are one half-sister, Connie Roberts; one half-brother, Mike Morris and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at the VA National Cemetery in Salisbury, NC on Friday, October 3, 2025, at 10:00 am with Pastor Bradley Roberts officiating. Interment will follow in the VA Cemetery.
