Ronald Raymond Schubert, 67, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2011. Born on July 5, 1944 in Pittsburgh, PA to Roy and Ruth Schubert, he graduated from North Hills High School in 1962 and served in the Army Reserves from June 1966 to July 1970. He mastered several trades during his career, and established a successful material handling equipment company, Matrix Material Handling, Inc., in Davidson. He valued travel of all kinds, whether it was through his work (which over time took him across the United States and into Central and South America) or annual pleasure trips to Florida, the Oregon coast and Alaska. Ron is remembered as a "people person" who could strike up a conversation with anyone. He was a generous and fair man with a strong professional drive and work ethic, a calm and gentle demeanor, vast patience and kindness, ever-present humor, and boundless and unconditional love. Ron will be profoundly missed by his surviving family members, including his partner, Sharon Duncan; brothers, Roy, Ricky and Randy Schubert; son, Ronald Jr. "Duke" Schubert; daughter, Ruth Ann Schubert Meredith and husband, Chris, and two grandchildren, Preston and Abigail; as well as Mark, Julie, Jordan and Christopher Duncan; Shelly, Chris, Brittany, Erin, and Julie Kealy; Wendy, Jeff, Justin and Alexi Webster; Peggy, Greg and Lauren Smith; Debbie McKenna; Patty Enterline; Lou Ann and Rick Waters; Ed McKenna; Mike McKenna; Bernie and Mary Ellen McKenna; Carol MacDonald and Tina Todd. He was preceded in death by his beloved brother, Robert "Buzz" Schubert. A private memorial service will be held at Troutman Funeral Home on Friday with burial immediately following at Iredell Memorial Park. A celebration of life service will be held in Seattle, WA at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association (www.heart.org).Visits: 0
