Ronald Dale Popiel

Ronald Dale Popiel, 85, of Statesville, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 12th, 2026. Ronald was born in Ohio and proudly served in the United States Air Force. He graduated from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Operations. He then married Judith Shaw on April 13, 1992 in Las Vegas combining their families with children Kathy Smith, Jeff Shaw (wife Kara) , Philip Shaw, Dale Popiel Jr, and Traci Thompson; eight grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Ronald enjoyed golf, coin collecting and especially gold prospecting.

Ronald is preceded in death by his parents, Stephen and Bernice Popiel, daughter Traci Thompson and grandson Jake Shaw. The family will be holding a private service.
