Mooresville

Ronald Paul Murray was born on July 18, 1939, in San Francisco, California, to Rev. Raymond and Ferne Murray, both ordained ministers and evangelists. As a preacher’s son, his faith became the foundation of his life. He accepted the Lord at the age of seven in his father’s church and remained a devoted follower of Jesus throughout his 86 years.

Ron attended Canyon Hill Bible Academy for one year and graduated from Santa Cruz High School before continuing his education at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, where he studied mathematics with an emphasis in computer science, graduating with a BS Degree. He built a successful career first in programming earning the affectionate nickname “Magic Fingers” for his exceptional computer skills. Then he moved into various management positions eventually retiring from AT&T after 35years.

A man of many talents, Ron found great joy in music, particularly singing bass in a southern gospel quartet for over 20 years. He was an instrument rated private pilot for over 30 years with his crowning achievement building his own airplane. Among his other accomplishments he designed and built his home at Lake Norman Airpark.

He loved adventure and creativity, enjoyed flying, traveling, RVing, cruising, boating, riding motorcycles (when he was much younger), and even painting landscapes. The only two things he couldn’t do was cook or dance!

Ron will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, a man of deep faith, and someone who believed wholeheartedly that anything was possible with prayer and the help of Jesus. He lived his faith, and demonstrated his steadfast love for his family, his music, and his Lord.

Ron is survived by his wife, Kandy Murray. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Murray and mother, Ferne Murray as well as his sister, Sharon Ware.
