Ronald Wayne Lambert

September 8, 1952 — November 26, 2024

Cleveland

Ronald (Ron) (Ronnie) Wayne Lambert took his last call 0735 on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, to report for duty to patrol the heavenly streets, with his family and old friends.

Ron began his life as a public servant at Central VFD, serving as a volunteer with his father, Bill Mason.

Ron began his Army life with Basic Training at Fort Knox, Kentucky, he then continued to A.I.T. (Advanced Individual Training), Fort Gordon, Georgia. He was a Vietnam Era Veteran of the Army, where he served in the Military Police for 8 plus years. He served in Korea, Fort Bragg, NC, Okinawa, Japan, Seneca Army Depot, and Romulus, NY. Ron retired from the Iredell County Sheriff Office after more than 25 years. Many of his co-workers fondly called him Pappy. While Ron was working as a Patrol Deputy, he also attended Mitchell Community College and achieved a degree in Criminal Justice.

While at ICSO, Ron worked as a Jailer, Road Patrol Officer, Detective, Detective Lieutenant, Road Patrol Lieutenant, Detective (Homicide Team), Swat Team Squad Leader, Warrant Squad, and retired as a Detective.

He believes they should bring back the draft! Ron was a fan of Real Nascar, and personally met several drivers over the years, including Dale Earnhardt, Sr. He enjoyed playing golf and being with his family, especially his granddaughter, Annabelle.

Late in life, the Long and Broken Road brought Ron and Tonya together, helping us Remember When we became one. Her cancer came and tried to pull us apart, but our bond was stronger together.

Ron was preceded in death by his son, Zane Lambert, mother, Virginia Marlene Lambert Mason, step father, Billy Joe Mason, maternal grandparents, William Everett Lambert Sr and Bertha Current Lambert and paternal grandparents, William Mckinney Mason and Ollie D. Mason.

Those left to cherish Ron’s memory include his wife, Tonya Lambert, son, Brandon Lambert (Heather Day), step son, Jared Sibert (Mary) and granddaughter, Annabelle Lee McKeon.

The family will visit with friends Sunday, December 8 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Troutman Funeral Home. A memorial service will be conducted Monday, December 9 at 11:30 am at Diamond Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Carl Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Salisbury National Cemetery with full military honors.
