Lt. Col. (Retired) Ronald Philip Kelly, 80, of Statesville, NC passed away, Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center.

Ronald was born July 29, 1938 in Iredell County and was the son of the late Floyd Lee Kelly and Frances Sherrill Kelly. He was a 1956 graduate of Statesville High School, 1960 graduate of UNC at Chapel Hill and received his Masters degree from Florida State University in Accounting. Upon graduation at UNC, he enlisted in the US Air Force, serving 21 years with his career ending at the Pentagon. He also served on the US Senate Arms Services Committee and was a VP with JayCor out of New Mexico. He was a business man, entrepreneur and a benevolent benefactor. He also helped countless people with higher learning/ education. He was greatly loved and will be deeply missed. He was preceded in death by his wife, Connie Jo Kelly.

Ronald is survived by one daughter, Camella Kelly Snouse (Michael) of Statesville, two grandchildren, Sarah Jo Snouse of Durham, Benjamin Snouse of Boone, one brother, Charles Kelly of Statesville, two sisters, Glenda Smith of Statesville, Joanne Moose of Statesville, sister-in-law, Peggy Clanton; two brothers-in-laws, Randy Haynie and Mike Haynie, former wife, Nancy L. Ashburn and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Gathering of Friends will be held from 1:00-2:00 pm Saturday, June 22, 2019 at Troutman Funeral Home. Burial will be held in Council Bluffs, IA at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Chapel Hill UMC and online condolences may be made to the family at www.troutmanfuneralhome.com
