Statesville

Ronald David Case, 74, a truly kind and gentle man, peacefully passed away on August 20, 2026. Although his mind was clouded with dementia, he is now with his God and family making beautiful music. He is survived by his loving wife, Pam, and his sister and brother-in-law, DeRee Case and Tom Kufel, his niece, Hope Vaughn, and nephew, Daniel Doss (Cameran). Ron was preceded in death by his father, Rev James David Case, and mother, Lillian Wilson Case, and brother, Danny Case.

When Ron was eleven his father bought him a guitar. Ron taught himself how to play by listening to the Grand Ole Opry. Then, at his mother’s insistence, Ron took piano lessons. It turned out Ron was very gifted in music and could play any instrument he tried. As a teenager he joined a high school band and began to write and record him own music. As a young adult, he joined The Impact Team, a contemporary religious band and played at churches throughout the South.

Ron graduated from Appalachian State University in 1974 with a degree in Finance. While he certainly could have had a successful career in music, Ron preferred the security of a regular paycheck. He worked for Northwestern Bank until it was purchased by First Union National Bank in 1985. At First Union, later called Wachovia National Bank, Ron was well respected by senior bank management for his understanding of bank operations. The people who reported to him also praised his management style and enjoyed working on his team.

During the bank merger, he met Pam Wilson and they became close friends. The friendship bloomed into love and they were married in 1991. Everyone who knew them as a couple saw how much they loved each other. Their 35 years of marriage was built on a deep, enduring connection, mutual respect, trust, and shared commitment. To them their love was forever.

When Ron retired in 2007, their relationship became even stronger. Ron and Pam loved spending time with their families hosting pool parties and holiday get-togethers. And they travelled often, exploring the US, Canada, and Europe. Also, after retiring Ron created beautiful music. He produced 9 CDs of music. He wrote all the songs, played all the instruments, sang all the vocals, recorded, mixed and mastered all nine CDs. Ron’s love for Pam was woven into many of his love songs.

In 2018 Ron began having memory issues. While life became exceedingly difficult for him, Ron never lost his wonderful sense of humor. Pam supported him throughout his decline and their love for each other never wavered.

Pam would like to thank Joe and Claryce Sinclair for their wonderfully supportive friendship to both her and Ron. They are Pam’s true guardian angels. Also, many thanks to the people at Brookdale Peachtree Memory Care in Statesville who worked diligently to make Ron’s life comfortable and meaningful during his last several months. And many thanks to the wonderful church family at Wesley Memorial. You have provided love and support that has meant so much.

A private graveside service will be held at Oakwood Cemetery at 1:00 on Thursday, August 27; followed by a Celebration of Life ceremony at 2:30 at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church in Statesville. Visitation will immediately follow in the church’s fellowship hall.
