Robert "Pete" Bryant Compton

Robert “Pete” Bryant Compton, 88 of Statesville, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at the Gordon Hospice House.

Mr. Compton was born in Iredell County, July 18, 1934, the son of the late Robert Lincoln Compton and Hortense Christie Compton.  Pete graduated from Central High School and served his country in the US Marine Corps. He was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church.  He and his wife Irene were proud dairy and poultry farmers.

In addition to his parents, Pete was preceded in death by his daughter, Laura Overman, his sister Barbara Ingram, brothers, Melvin Compton, and Joe Compton.

Those left to cherish the life and memory of Pete Compton, include his wife of 63 years, Irene Goodin Compton, his sons Barry Compton (Tina), and Keith Compton (Donna), sisters Betty Menscer and Louise Johnson, seven grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at 12:00 noon, Monday, February 6, 2023, at Friendship United Methodist Church, Reverend Bobby Lorton will officiate.  The family will visit with friends at the church one hour prior to the service.  Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery with full military honors.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of Iredell County or Friendship United Methodist Church.
