Robert "Bob" Lee Smith, Jr.

Robert “Bob” Lee Smith, Jr., 78 of Statesville, passed away, Friday, April 21, 2023, at his home.

Bob was born June 2, 1944, in Norfolk, VA and was the son of the late Jack and Ann Duckworth Smith. He attended NC State University and was married to Patricia Ross Smith, who survives. Bob read through the Bible 28 times and was an active member of New Perth ARP Church, where he served as an Elder, Deacon and taught Sunday school to the high school youth.

In addition to his wife of 58 years, Bob is survived by one son, Brian Smith (Elizabeth); one daughter, Cheryl Smith six grandchildren, Pressley, Gracie, Lucy, Hutton, Miranda and Molly Sue Smith along with one sister, Shirley S. Clarke (David).

A memorial service will be held 1:00 pm Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at New Perth ARP Church with Rev. Dan Hazen officiating. The family will visit with friends 12:00-1:00 pm before the service.

The family would like to give a special thanks to his Hospice caregivers, Lori Patterson and Kim Lachina.
