Robert Wayne Smith

Robert Wayne Smith, 78, of Statesville, passed away Monday, September 8, 2025, at the Gordon Hospice House.

Bob was born June 28, 1947, in Iredell County, to the late Robert Ross Smith and Essie Johnson Smith. He was a member of The Oaks church. He enjoyed reading the Bible and collecting historical campaign buttons.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Shirley White and Barbara Smith.

Those left to cherish Bob’s memory are his nephew, Wayne White (Susan); and niece, Ann Marie Richard (Cory); 4 great nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, September 11 at Oakwood Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Bob’s caregiver, Alice Robinson, and Bob’s friends and neighbors at the Plaza Apartments.
