Bob was born on February 18, 1938, in Appalachia, Virginia, to the late Robert Franklin Moore and Georgia Margaret Rowland Moore. He received his elementary and high school education in his hometown before attending Virginia Tech, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering in 1960.
