Robert "Bob" Glenn Lovette

Robert Glenn “Bob” Lovette, 87, of Statesville, passed peacefully into his heavenly home on Wednesday, September 23, 2026.

Bob was born on April 16, 1939, in North Wilkesboro to the late Vaughn Lee Lovette and Grace Minton Lovette. He attended Wilkes Central High School, where he graduated. He proudly served in the United States Army for 4 years.

On June 27, 1964, Bob married the love of his life, the late Lois Jean Rector Lovette. He loved to tell stories of their square-dancing days. Bob and Lois were members of Beulah Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time together at their condo in Myrtle Beach and traveling on Christian Tours trips. He was a staple at Dianne’s Dairy Center and Scotty’s Hometown Grill.

Bob worked as a field supervisor for the State of North Carolina for 30 years. Following his retirement, he continued working as a contractor for the North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles and opened the Newton Tag Office in 1994. He was a long-time member of the West Iredell Lion’s Club and West Iredell Ruritan Club.

Bob was an avid NASCAR and Dodgers fan, but nothing brought him greater joy than his family. He loved his family well and was incredibly proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Bob loved people and extended his kindness to everyone around him. His generous and caring nature will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lois Jean Rector Lovette; his brother, Mack Lovette; and his sister, Doris Gar.

Those who will continue to honor and cherish his life include his two daughters, Sheila Lovette Anderson (Hugh) and Sandra Lovette Cook (Jeffrey); seven grandchildren, Ashley Cottone (Justin), Brandon Cook (Lauren), Lauren Mack (Doug), Hugh Anderson III (Jade), Jessica Winters (Davey), Mackenzie Strange (Anson), and Erica Cook. His eleven great-grandchildren will especially miss his loving tradition of never letting them leave without sending plenty of snacks along for the way.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Saturday, September 26 at Troutman Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, September 27 at Beulah Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons, great-grandson, grandson-in-laws: Brandon Cook, Hugh Anderson III, River Cottone, Davey Winters, Anson Strange, Douglas Mack, and Justin Cottone.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Gordon’s Hospice House and West Iredell Ruritan Club.

The family would like to thank the staff, Lorrie and Lindsey, for their compassionate care of Bob in his home.
