Richard Smith

Richard Gene Smith, 68, of Statesville, passed away, Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at the Gordon Hospice House.

Richard was born June 27, 1952 in Iredell County and attended West Rowan High School. On June 28, 1986, he married Karen Harmon Smith, who survives and together they attended South River Baptist Church. He was retired and loved old vehicles, his pets and his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Richard is survived by one son, David Smith (Kristy) of Statesville, two grandchildren, Layla and Brennan Smith; three brothers, Johnny Smith, Frank Smith (Susan), Daril Smith and two sisters, June Brown and Gay Alley.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby W. Smith, one son, R. Lynn Smith and two brothers, Larry and Kenneth Smith.

Graveside funeral services will be held 11:00am Saturday, February 6, 2021 at Faith Church Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Chris Thompson officiating. Mr. Smith will lie in state from 12:00-5:00 pm on Friday, February 5, 2021 at Troutman Funeral Home. Active pallbearers will be David Smith, Cory Miller, James Cromie, Randall Menscer, Brandon Owens, Shane Owens and Shane Harmon.
