R. F. “Bill” Millsaps, age 85, of Statesville, passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2026. Born in Iredell County March 14, 1941, he was the husband of the late JoAnn Jurney Millsaps and the son of the late William Talmadge and Carrie Marlow Millsaps. He was a member of Rocky Hill Baptist Church and a graduate of Central High School. He retired from driving tractor trailers at the age of 79. Bill loved being on the road, fishing off the coast, and gardening when he was able to be at home.
Bill is survived by one son, Kent Millsaps (Patty); one daughter, Shana Hess; three grandchildren, Zach Millsaps (Kasie), Zane Millsaps (Lisa), and Savannah Holland Bremen); and one great grandchild on the way. Two brothers, King Millsaps (Bonnie) and Rick Millsaps (Barbara) and two sisters, Geraldine Connoly and Naomi Mitcham (James) also survive.
In addition to his wife of over 50 years JoAnn, and his parents, Bill was also preceded in death by one sister, Lois Fulbright.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at 1:00 pm at Rocky Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Daniel Melton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the church from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to his hospice nurse, August and to the staff at Brookdale Peachtree who took such good care of Bill.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Bill’s memory to Rocky Hill Baptist Church, 823 Mountain View Rd Statesville, NC 28625.
