March 25, 1933 - November 10, 2014 Rev. Roy Lee Pierce, 81, of Statesville, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Nov. 10, 2014 at home. He was born March 25, 1933, to the late Robert Lee Pearce and Rachel Privette Pearce of Statesville. A beloved father and grandfather, he was a humble man who constantly strived to serve his fellow man and always had a word of encouragement for others. He graduated from Fruitland Bible Institute in 1963 and was an ordained deacon and pastor who served several local churches almost until his death. He retired from Iredell-Statesville Schools in 1999. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Pearce, of Texas, and a sister, Laura Elizabeth Pearce Murdock Dellinger, of Statesville. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Laura Betty Blackwelder Pierce, of Statesville; two sons, Terry L. Pierce (Lisa), of Brevard, and Steven L. Pierce (Deborah), of Troutman; a daughter, Susan Pierce McCoy (Michael), of Statesville; a sister, Rachel Pearce, of Statesville; a step-brother, Frankie Southard, of Statesville; six grandchildren, Tara Pierce Rybka (Joe), Tyler L. Pierce (Amber), Hannah E. Pierce, Sarah C. Pierce, Seth M. McCoy (Sarah) and Madison McCoy Cook (Mitchell); and four great-grandchildren, Evelyn Rybka, Jameson Rybka, Finley McCoy and Kayden Pierce. The family wishes to thank his caregiver Monikki "Nikki" Morrison, hospice nurse Crystal Combs, Hospice and Palliative Care Lake Norman, the nurses and staff of The Dialysis Center of Statesville, the congregation of Troutman Baptist Church and a host of friends and family who have provided countless calls, visits, cards, meals and prayers. Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 11, at Troutman Baptist Church, with the Rev. Steve Kramm and Rev. J.B. Parker Jr. officiating. Visitation will follow at the church from 7 pm to 8:30 p.m. Burial will take place at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 12, at Iredell Memorial Gardens.
