Ralph Wilson Woodie, 68, of 122 Tanbridge Drive, Statesville, passed away on November 8, 2010 at Gordon Hospice House after an extended illness of Lewy Body Dementia. He was born March 25, 1942 in Ashe County to the late Coy and Maggie Woodie. He was retired from Uniglass Industries and Schaefer Manufacturing. Ralph was a member of Mountain Road Baptist Church where he served as Sunday school teacher, deacon and treasurer. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Mary Vannoy Woodie; a son, Tony Woodie and his wife, Carla; a daughter, Traci King and husband, Terry; six grandchildren, Bethany and Staci Woodie of Statesville, Andrew Smith of Charlotte, Austin Smith of Statesville, Lee King of Statesville and Brandon King of Michigan; a brother, Kenny Woodie and his wife, Anne of Lexington and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Barker and Ruth Woodie and three brothers, Mack, George and Jack Woodie. A visitation for family and friends will be held at Troutman Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 from 6 until 8 p.m. Funeral services celebrating the life of Ralph Woodie will be on Thursday, November 11, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Mountain Road Baptist Church with the Revs. Jamie Fox and Carroll Jordon officiating. Burial will follow at Iredell Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mountain Road Baptist Church Bus Fund, 132 Compton Park Road, Statesville, N. C. 28677 or Gordon Hospice House, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, N. C. 28625. The family will assemble at 122 Tanbridge Road, Statesville, N. C. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Lewis Tondo and the staff of Gordon Hospice House.
