September 15, 1935 - September 27, 2018 Ralph Donald Campbell, 83, of Troutman passed away on September 27, 2018. He was born September 15, 1935 in Hiddenite, North Carolina to the late Joseph Weddie and Garnette Queen Campbell. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Pauline Marlowe Campbell. Ralph was a loving and dedicated husband and father. He enjoyed a 30 year long career at Western & Southern Life Insurance Company, and upon retirement established a landscape business with his wife which they operated for 15 years. Perhaps the greatest hallmark and greatest joys of his life was his lifelong commitment to organizing and giving back to his community, church, schools, civic and youth organizations. Campbell served in numerous capacities in the following organizations as either founder, officer, or other role of leadership: Monticello PTA President, West Iredell PTA President and Booster Club President, Young Civitans Club Founder, North Iredell Youth Athletic Association Founder, West Iredell Recreation Club Founder, Front Street Baptist Church Deacon and Building Campaign, Christian Business Men’s Club Founder, Gideon Club Officer, Civitan Club and many more. Ralph and his wife prepared Wednesday night meals at Front Street Church for over a decade where they were members for 54 years. Their current Church home is Trinity Baptist in Mooresville, where they enjoyed the sweet spirit of fellowship until Ralph’s failing health kept them from going. Ralph’s family includes his daughter Janice Travis and husband Chuck, two sons, Craig Campbell and Roger Campbell and wife Deneen. Additionally, Ralph has six grand-children, Ashley Peterson and husband Matt, Charles L. Travis, IV, Caitlin Hudson and husband Chase, Rachel Campbell, Brandon Campbell, and Matthew Campbell, and one great-grandchild, Keagan Hudson, as well as his twin sister Ruth Hayes. His brother J.W. Campbell preceded him in death. A memorial service will be held at New Perth A.R.P. Church on Monday, October 1, 2018 at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Dan Hazen officiating. The family will receive friends after the service. There will be a private graveside service for the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Rd., Statesville NC 28625 or to The Gideons International, Statesville South Camp, P.O. Box 148, Statesville, NC 28687. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.troutmanfuneralhome.com. Troutman Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for Ralph Campbell.
