Philip Matheson

August 25, 1953 - November 21, 2018 Philip "Phil" Quintin Matheson, 65, of Statesville, passed away on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at Gordon Hospice House. Phil was born in Iredell County on August 25, 1953. He was son of the late Calvin Mower Matheson and Peggy Stevenson Matheson, who survives. Phil worked as a manager for nine years at Metro Lift Propane in Mooresville. He will always be remembered as a man who loved his family. He looked forward to all the cookouts and holiday gatherings, any opportunity to spend time with his extended family. He loved being outdoors, shining his cars, especially his truck "Big Red," and biannual trips to Florida with his wife. In recent years, Phil loved to ride his Harley alongside his eldest son, Scott. He was a dedicated member of Fallstown Baptist Church with his wife for the past eight years, where he served as a deacon. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Calvin Keith Matheson, and sister, Cindy Coley. Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of 45 years, Debra "Debbie" Smith Matheson; mother, Peggy Matheson; daughter, Nichole (John) Bradburn; sons; Scott (Shanea) Matheson and Chad (Tish) Matheson; grandchildren, Dylan (Ashley) Matheson, Aleesha (Brandon) Sutton, Hailey Matheson, Chase Matheson, Tre Matheson, Tyler Matheson, Landon Matheson, Cole Bradburn, and Callye Bradburn; brother and sister-in-law Junior and Sharon Smith; nephew, Casey; and niece, Angela Coley, all who will miss him dearly. A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 25, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Troutman Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral service will be held on Monday, November 26, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Fallstown Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. David Troutman and Rev. J.B. Parker officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service at Iredell Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Phil’s memory may be made to Gordon Hospice House, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
