Peggy "Colleen" Transou Huffstickler

Peggy Colleen Transou Huffstickler, 91, of Statesville, passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at Iredell Memorial Hospital.

Colleen was born January 22, 1934, in Danville, Virginia, to the late Charlie Transou and Zethria Lyons Transou. Colleen loved to cook for others. She was a wonderful seamstress and gardener, and she loved music and playing the piano. Colleen dearly loved her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, John Ray Huffstickler; brother, Leeman Transou and sister, Joann T. Reece.

Those left to cherish Colleen’s memory are her daughters, Judy H. Cape (Alvin) and Penny H. Laws (Joe); son, Dennis Ray Huffstickler; grandchildren, Mark Keller (Casey), Kristi Keller (Geno), Megan Laws, and Hunter Huffstickler; great-grandchildren, Caleb and Charlotte Mallacoccio; honorary daughters, Penny Coffey and Judy Weist; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins who she helped raise.

Funeral services will be held at 6:00 pm on Sunday, June 29 in the Troutman Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Travis Cauble officiating. The family will visit with friends prior to the service from 5:00 pm until 6:00 pm. A private burial will take place on Monday, June 30 at Iredell Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or American Cancer Society (Multiple Myeloma).
